What we collect
When you send an enquiry through the form on this website, we collect what you choose to give us: your name, your business name, your email address and phone number, your site’s postcode or town, the metals you tick, anything you write and any photos you attach.
To protect the form from spam we also use your IP address. It is used to limit repeated submissions and is not stored alongside your enquiry.
Why we use it
We use your details to reply to your enquiry, price your scrap and arrange collection if you go ahead. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in running and protecting our business. We do not add you to marketing lists and we never sell your details.
If you go ahead, we share the details needed to set up and carry out your collections (such as your business name, site address and contact for access) with the registered collectors and facilities that handle your waste.
Spam protection
Our form may use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that enquiries come from a person rather than a bot. To do this, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and details about your browser. Who can see your details
Your enquiry is emailed to us and stored securely on our website so that nothing gets lost. The companies that help us run this, such as our website host, our email provider and Mako Digital, who built and look after this website, may process it on our behalf. Some of these providers may store data outside the UK, in which case appropriate safeguards are in place.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and photos sent through the website are deleted automatically after 12 months. If you sell to us, we keep purchase records, waste transfer notes and invoices for as long as the law requires.
Cookies
This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies. The spam check described above may store small pieces of information in your browser that it needs to work. Our fonts are hosted on this website, so viewing it does not send your details to a font service.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to how we use it. Just contact us using the details above. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
