How selling your scrap works
What happens from your first call to the money landing in your account, and what we need from you along the way.

Step by step
Six steps, no surprises
- 1
Tell us what you have
Call 01942 906041 or use the form. The metal, how it is mixed, roughly how much, and where it is. Photos taken close enough to see the metal save a lot of back and forth.
- 2
We tell you how it will be priced
Which grade it falls into, what would lift it into a better grade, and how prices are moving. If separating it on site would pay, we will say so before anything is collected.
- 3
Collection is arranged
A one-off pick-up when you have a load, or cages, bins, bulk bags or a roll-on roll-off skip left on site for regular scrap or a strip-out.
- 4
ID and paperwork
The law requires us to verify the seller’s name and address and record each purchase. For a business that means the company details and the person arranging the sale. A waste transfer note covers each collection.
- 5
Weighed and graded
Each metal is weighed and graded on its own. Anything that drops a grade, such as steel attached to stainless or fittings left on copper, is explained rather than quietly deducted.
- 6
Paid by bank transfer
Payment against the agreed weights and grades, by bank transfer only. Cash payment for scrap metal is illegal, and you would not want it in your books anyway.
Getting the best price
Small habits that make scrap worth more
- Keep each metal in its own cage, bin or bag
- Keep stainless grades apart where you know them
- Strip off steel brackets, plastic and fittings where it is safe to
- Keep general waste, wood and plastic out of the metal
- Drain cutting fluid from swarf before collection

How do I get today’s price for my scrap?
Call 01942 906041 or send us a few photos through the quote form with a rough weight or volume. Scrap prices follow the metals markets and change from day to day, so we price on what you actually have at the time, by grade, rather than quoting a figure that could be out of date tomorrow.
How will we be paid? Can you pay cash?
By bank transfer. Paying cash for scrap metal has been illegal in England and Wales since the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, so any dealer still offering cash is breaking the law. You get a record of what was weighed, the grade and the price, so the payment is easy to reconcile in your accounts.
What ID do you need when we sell scrap?
The law requires a scrap metal dealer to verify the full name and address of the person selling, and to keep a record of each purchase. For a business that usually means the company details and the name of the person arranging the sale. It protects you as much as us: it is how legitimate scrap is told apart from stolen metal.
Do you collect from site?
Yes. We arrange collections from business and trade sites, and can leave cages, bins, bulk bags or a roll-on roll-off skip on site so metals are kept apart as they come out. Tell us what you produce and how much, and we will suggest the right set-up and collection frequency.
Do we get paperwork for our scrap?
Yes. Scrap metal leaving a business is waste in law, so the duty of care applies and each transfer needs a waste transfer note, kept for at least two years. You also get a record of the weight, grade and price of what we buy.
